E-rate Update - SLC Making Erroneous Calls to Schools
Message Posted June 25, 1998

Today we learned that the SLC Program Integrity Review staff were calling to schools and libraries in Pennsylvania who filed a Form 471 for a service or component purchased from the state PEPPM contract. The staffer stated that the USCN number was invalid and that their application, therefore, could not be processed.

We have contacted the SLC and given them proof that indeed the number that we provided on our step by step instructions, 452500000011550, is the accurate number. The SLC staffer indicated he would attempt to alert his fellow staffers that there is NO problem and they shouldn't call PA applicants regarding this non-problem, but he said it was unlikely that they would remember when they made the calls.

If you are contacted by the SLC on this issue, and many of you will be, explain that apparently when your application was reviewed and flagged by the SLC, their computers were malfunctioning. Have them to enter the number in their computer again. If it still doesn't appear, tell them to contact me directly at (717) 787-5820.

Thank you to the schools who alerted me to this problem. Never hesitate to contact me regarding such issues.
