E-rate Workshop To Be Presented at Link-to-Learn Institute
Message Posted July 7, 1998
The Department of Education and Pennsylvania Association of Federal Program Coordinators will be sponsoring a 1998 Link-to-Learn/TLCF Institute from July 26-28. The goal of the Institute is to provide an overview of Pennsylvania's educational technology strategy an what can be done at a local level to use technology as an effective teaching and learning tool. Experts from a variety of areas will be conducting workshops that will help guide schools through the technology planning and implementation process. In most cases, presentors will be school districts who are considered "best practices" in particular areas.
Tentative workshop topics will include:
* Effective Grant Writing
* Partnership Strategies
* Community Based Networking Strategies
* How to Write a Technology Plan
* Funding Sources for Technology
* Videoconferencing Solutions
* How to do a Webcast (CyberCast)
* How to Integrate Technology Into the Curriculum
* E-rate Update
* Link-to-Learn Programs
* The Year 2000 Problem and What You Need to Do About It
* Examples of Effective Educational Technology Programs
* Focus Groups for the New Automated Technology Planning Tool
* Strategies for the TLCF Grant program
* Websites Worth Visiting
Participation has until recently been limited 200. Initially, only the poorest school districts and least technologically sophisticated school districts were eligible to register. However there is room for a limited number of additional participants in the Institute. Participants will be taken on a first come - first serve basis. The cost of the institute will be largely absorbed by the Department although a $100 conference fee will be required.
For those unable to attend, a number of workshops will be made available over the Internet through webcasting. Please monitor the Link-to-Learn hompage www.L2L.org for further details. This Institute is being provided as part of the Department's continued committment to provide technical assistance to Pennsylvania's schools.
REMEMBER, REGISTRATION IS LIMITED AND IS ON A FIRST COME - FIRST SERVE
BASIS. If you have any questions, please contact Cindy Rhoads at 717-787-5820. I look forward to seeing you at the Institute.
