PDE Posts "Special Library Wave" of E-rate Funding Commitment Letters

The Schools and Libraries Division (formerly known as the Schools and Libraries Corporation) has just released a list of libraries that are included in a special wave of E-rate funding commitment letters focused exclusively on libraries.
According to the SLD, this wave will reach 1,300 library applicants nationally with a dollar commitment of just under $8 million, and will bring
the overall library share of applicants to 18% and the library dollar share to 5% to date. Libraries represented 16.5% of E-rate applicants and 3.3%
of total funding requests for 1998.
In Pennsylvania, this wave generated 110 funding commitment letters to libraries providing $243,916.86 in funding commitments. Currently, the SLD's records show that they are processing 323 library/library consortia Form 471 applications from Pennsylvania requesting $3,293,857.67, NOT including the six-month extension for telecommunications services and Internet access. On a cumulative basis, for all of the waves to date including this one, 147 libraries in PA have received funding commitments totalling $416,759.34. As you can see, it appears that there will be many more letters coming in the next two weeks with large funding commitments attached.
Congratulations to these libraries for a job well done! Don't forget that the next step is to complete the mandatory Form 486 and the BEAR Form if you are due any reimbursement.
