PDE Posts Wave 9 E-rate Funding Commitment Recipients
Funding Threshold Lowered to 70%
The Schools and Libraries Division just released a list of the Wave 9 E-rate Funding Commitment Letter Recipients. More than 3700 funding commitment decisions letters totaling $323 million in E-rate funds are included nationwide in this wave. In Pennsylvania, 113 letters were mailed, totaling $7,088,215.37 in funding commitments. To receive a more detailed listing of this same information, go to the SLD web site's Funding Recipient Page for Pennsylvania. Wave 9 should be posted there in a day or two.
As has been the case with other waves, the actual funding commitment letters will arrive anywhere from 7-14 days after receiving this message.
THIS IS NOT THE LAST WAVE. There will be probably one more wave before the process is concluded. The latest word is that all funding commitments,
not including appeals, will be issued by February 28. Also, as you know this is a federal program, and the PA Department of Education does not control or have anything to do with the processing of applications, release of funds, etc. The only notice we have of commitments being made is when we receive a fax about an hour before you receive the list via e-mail.
* * * This wave, for the first time, provides funding to cover internal connection requests for applicants who qualify for a discount level as low as 70%. This wave reflects some, but no all, of such applications.
Congratulations to the following recipients. Don't forget that the next step is to file your Form 486s (supposedly within 5 days after receiving funding commitment letter... 5-10 days is probably fine) and begin the process of completing your BEAR Form (Form 472) if you need reimbursed for any funds committed and already spent (no deadline set yet.)
And finally, just a reminder that the next E-rate filing window has been extended until April 6. This means that you really should have your Form
470 submitted to the SLD by March 3 to give yourself enough time to still complete your Form 471 and have it received by the SLD by the April
deadline.
