Final Wave of E-rate Letters Released
Message Posted March 2, 1999

PDE Posts Final Wave of E-rate Funding Commitment Recipients
No Discounts Available for Internal Connections below 70%

The Schools and Libraries Division just released the list of the Wave 10 E-rate Funding Commitment Letter Recipients -- the final wave of E-rate
Letters. In Pennsylvania, letters were mailed totaling $13,209,155.32 in funding commitments. To receive a more detailed listing of this same
information, go to the SLD web site and click on Wave 10.

As has been the case with other waves, the actual funding commitment letters will arrive anywhere from 7-14 days after receiving this message.

THIS IS THE LAST WAVE. If you submitted an application in the window that ended April 15, 1998 and your entity was not listed in any of the
funding commitment waves, the SLD has informed us that they will be issuing a statement shortly about where you can call for more information.

Preliminarily, before decisions are made on numerous appeals from PA applicants, it appears that the E-rate funding commitments for PA total
just over $49.6 million.

This wave provides funding to cover internal connection requests for applicants who qualify for a discount level as low as 70%. The SLD has
determined that funds are insufficient to fund the remaining $500 million in requests for discounts for internal connections at 69% and below which
were received during the filing window.

Congratulations to the following recipients. Don't forget that the next step is to file your Form 486s (supposedly within 5 days after receiving
funding commitment letter... 5-10 days is probably fine) and begin the process of completing your BEAR Form (Form 472) if you need reimbursed for
any funds committed and already spent (no deadline set yet.)

* * * And finally, an important reminder that the next E-rate filing window officially closes on April 6. This means that you really should
have your Form 470 submitted to the SLD by March 3 to give yourself enough time to still complete your Form 471 and have it received by the SLD by the
April deadline.
