Virginia To Hold National Teleconference on New Filtering Requirements
On Thursday, June 7 from 3:00 - 5:00, the Virginia Department of Education is hosting a teleconference on
the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA).
For Year 4 of E-rate, applicants are required to "undertake some action" regarding Internet
filtering by July 1, 2001, or the start of service and it is believed by many that this requirement would be satisfied simply by watching
this teleconference and submitting a memo to a decision maker on items covered during the teleconference.

phone in questions.

Please note that Virginia has adopted its own Internet filtering law, so they will spend
