Great 471 Feature for Year 5
Message Posted November 27, 2001 Discount Calculations Can Be Copied From Last Year!
As I mentioned in a previous e-mail, there are several updates and improvements to the E-rate program for Year 5, and I am sending each one under it's own e-mail. This improvement will come as a delight to school districts and large applicants.
Beginning with Year 5, the SLD has added an amazing new feature to the online 471 -- the ability to transfer the discount calculation from Year 3 or Year 4, Block 4 worksheet to a Year 5 Form 471.
When you get to Block 4, where it asks you to enter the entity number, number of students, and number of students eligible for national school lunch for each entity, you can simply click on the button which indicates to retrieve Block 4 info from a previous year.
The system then asks you for the 471 application number from the previous application, and your entity number. If you then want to make updates or changes, you may do so, and when you're done, the system will automatically recalculate the information for you!
Soooo, this is just one more reason why applicants should file their applications online. And now even large applicants have no excuses for not doing so.
