Year 4: Wave 9 E-rate Funding Commitments Mailed
Message Posted December 3, 2001
* Very Small Wave; Hopefully Wave 10 Will Be Larger *
Congratulations to the following2 Pennsylvania schools and libraries that will be receiving Year 4, Wave 9 E-rate Funding Commitment Letters. This wave is being mailed after the Oct. 28 CIPA deadline, applicants now have 120 days from the date on the funding letter or 120 days from the start of service (whichever is later) to have their 486 form postmarked in order to discounts to be paid retroactively to the Service Start Date.
A summary of each commitment is listed below, and detailed information has been posted to the SLD web site. The actual letters should arrive this week. If you find that your funding commitment letter does not arrive in a timely manner, you should contact the SLD ASAP
to have a new one issued. The original date on your letter is the one that will be used to determine CIPA compliance.
* The next step is to file a Form 486 which tells the SLD that service has begun and that they are authorized to pay invoices (either BEAR or SPIFs). This form also certifies CIPA compliance and must be filed with 120 days of service start date or date on funding letter. Please be sure to use the new 486 (with the CIPA certifications), available on the SLD website at: http://www.sl.universalservice.org/form/.
* If you disagree with a funding commitment decision, an appeal letter MUST be received at the SLD within 30 days of the date that is on the decision letter (NOT the letter's postmark date). There are no exceptions to this rule.
