Final Update to Districts/Charters with Technology Plans Due by April 30, 2002
Message Posted April 25, 2002

The following e-mail is being provided to school districts and charter schools that have technology plans due by April 30, 2002 in an attempt to answer anticipated questions.

1) Reminder: If you currently do not have a technology plan, or have a plan that expired on or before June 30, 2002, your technology plan is due to be submitted to PDE using the eTechPlanner by April 30, 2002. If you are receiving E-rate discounts or will be receiving technology funding under the new No Child Left Behind Act (virtually every school district and charter school), you must have a technology plan that has been approved by the state in order to receive those funds. Extensions or waivers are not permitted. If you are still uncertain when your technology plan is due, contact Joan Lake at jlake@ciu20.org.

2) Please make certain that your email contact information is updated and correct at the eTechPlanner website. E-mail is the means by which you are contacted to make revisions to your plan, when it has been approved by the ePeerReviewer, and finally when your plan is finally approved by PDE.

Without a correct contact e-mail address, you will not receive these important pieces of information. You can ensure that your e-mail address is correct by logging in to the Plan Builder and going to the Utilities section. Select the "Change District Password and E-mail Address." If the email address is incorrect, please update it.

3) After your plan has been approved by PDE, you will receive your official approval email as there is no paper approval letter sent via US Postal service. Your email is your approval letter. Print it and keep it for your records.

4) It is imperative that you monitor your plan once submitted by selecting the Tech Plan Submission link in the plan builder. Follow the 'history'. You will see the date-time stamp for your plan submission, as well as the date-time stamp for when the ePeer Reviewer has picked up your plan for review. An ePeer Reviewer has two weeks to review your plan once they have picked it up from the queue.

5) If your plan has been under review for 3-4 weeks and you have not yet heard anything, please email Joan Lake at jlake@ciu20.org.

We hope this information will assist you in being proactive in the approval of your technology plan. If you have any questions or concerns, please email Joan Lake at jlake@ciu20.org
