Form 471 Application Filing Window Dates Set for Year 6

The SLD announced today that the 2003-2004 (Year 6) Form 471 filing window will open on Monday, November 4, 2002 at noon, and will close on Thursday, January 16, 2003. For those of you who wait to the last minute to file your forms, this means that the absolute final day for you to post a 470, wait 28 days, and still leave yourself with one day to sign contracts, complete your 471 and have it postmarked within the window (including certification/signature pages) is December 18, 2002.
DO NOT WAIT UNTIL DECEMBER TO FILE YOUR 470s -- you're only asking for trouble if you do!
Although I will be providing more information later on these topics, there are two things you should know about Year 6 Form 471's:
1) The SLD will be slightly revising the 471 for Year 6, particularly the instructions, and it will be available in the next few weeks.
2) In order to speed funding commitments, the SLD is encouraging applicants to file priority 1 and priority 2 requests on separate Form 471s.
