2006 Technology Plans Still Due

As you know, E-rate applicants must have technology plans which cover all services included in their applications except for basic phone service (which includes POTS, long distance and cellular service). FCC rules also require that technology plans must be written before the Form 470 is filed, and approved by an SLD-certified approver before July 1 of the funding year for which they are requesting discounts. If a currently-approved plan does not include some of the services included on their 2006 applications, an amendment to their current plan should be done to cover those services. The date for which plans must be submitted to the approving entity is up to the approving entity to determine.
For all Local Education Agencies in Pennsylvania (including districts, charter schools, AVTSs, and IUs), technology plans must be approved by the PA Department of Education using the eTechPlanner tool (www.etechplanner.org). The date that was established by PDE to have the 2006 plans submitted was January 15, 2006. Most entities that had plans expiring on June 30, 2006 were able to meet this January deadline and most have had their plans already approved by PDE. However, there are still 32 entities that have yet to submit their technology plans for approval and those entities are listed below. (Please know that this is not an exhaustive list, particularly for charter schools or AVTSs. This list is comprised of entities that had previous plans expiring June 30, 2006 so if you are a new school, and you are applying for E-rate, you should consider your plan due.)
If your entity's name is on this list, please submit your 2006 technology plan ASAP in order for it to be reviewed through the peer review process and also approved by PDE before July 1, 2006.
