Yr 9 (2006) Priority 2 Funding Threshold Set at 86%
Message Posted June 11, 2007
Today the SLD announced that they will cut-off priority 2 E-rate funding for Yr 9 (2006) at 86% and all requests below that amount will not be funded. This does not affect priority 1 funding in any way.
For those new to E-rate, there are 2 priorities of E-rate funding. Priority 1 consists of telecommunications services and Internet Access (no equipment is purchased -- only services) and there has always been and likely always be sufficient funds to cover all requests for funding received in the Form 471 filing window. Priority 2 funding consists of internal connections and basic maintenance of internal connections. Those requests are funded only if there are funds available after Priority 1 requests are satisfied, with funding provided to the highest-discount applicants first until funding is exhausted.
If you're keeping track, below are the priority 2 (internal connections and basic maintenance of internal connections) funding thresholds since the beginning of the program:
Year 1 (98) -- funded to 70%
Year 2 (99) – all approved applications funded
Year 3 (00) – down to 82%
Year 4 (01) – down to 87%
Year 5 (02) – down to 81%
Year 6 (03) – down to 70% - significant rollover funds
Year 7 (04) – down to 81%
Year 8 (05) – down to 80%
Year 9 (06) – down to 86%
Year 10 (07) -- no Priority 2 funding yet
