Form 486 PDF Version to be Removed

On June 15, 2007, the SLD will be removing the PDF version of the Online Form 486, thus leaving the Interview format as the only way to file the Form 486 online. The reason is that the version of the PDF that they are using only supports Adobe 5.0 and because most applicants are using 6.0 or higher, some have reported experiencing technical problems.
Therefore if you have already been funded in Waves 1-6 for FY 2007 (or any previous funding year), and if your services will begin on July 1, and if your technology plan has been approved, and if you prefer to use the PDF version (like I do), you should file your Form 486 before Friday. I have listed below all of the PA entities that have been funded in Waves 1-6, but who have not yet filed a Form 486 (a total of 451 entities). In my experience, if you use Adobe 6.0 or higher, the only problem is the initial wait time for the Form to appear on your screen.
The deadline to file the Form 486 is 120 days after the date on your funding commitment letter or 120 days after start of services, whichever is later. So for all applicants funded on or prior to July 1, the deadline to submit the Form 486 is October 28, 2007. The benefit to filing early is so vendors can begin discounting bills if you so choose. Most vendors cannot discount bills until the Form 486 approval letter is received. And don't forget that if you file either the PDF, Interview or Paper format of the Form 486 before July 1, 2007, you should check '6a' to indicate that you are filing the Form 486 prior to the start of the funding year.
