Year 11 E-rate Update for Veterans Scheduled

To help all Pennsylvania applicants prepare for the upcoming E-rate Year 11 (FY2008) application cycle, we are pleased to announce two E-rate webinars that will provide updates and refreshers to all veteran E-rate applicants. The sessions will be held October 23 and November 14, from 10 a.m. - noon both days. These topics, and more, will be discussed:

* Updates to the Eligible Services List
* New 30% Rules
* New Error Correction Rules
* Increasing Your Funding Request after the Window Has Closed
* Gotchas to Avoid
* New Contract Signature Rules
* Navigating PIA
* Deadlines Looming for FY 06, 07, & 08

There will be ample time for Q & A.  Pre-Registration is required at:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=fti14hmpry5AA5lGzSWL_2fg_3d_3d .  There are 250 seats available for each training and if those become filled, we will schedule a third session in November.

Both webinars will be identical in content and all E-rate contacts not attending the beginners training are encourage to participate in one of the two sessions. For individuals that may not be familiar with webinars, you simply log-in to a pre-announced website where you will view the training online from the comfort of your own computer (I'll be presenting a Powerpoint and taking live written and voice questions).  Detailed instructions are listed below in order to prepare your computer for the webinar and to participate the day of the event.

* PREPARATION FOR THE WEBINAR:

If this is your first time attending a webinar via Elluminate:

  • Go to the CCIU Configuration Room to test your connection, microphone and speakers at http://www.pdewebinars.org/testyourcomputer.htm.
  • If necessary download the Sun Microsystem's Java Web Start (or OpenJNLP for Mac), a pre-requisite to Elluminate. You only need to do this the first time you use Elluminate. To do this go to www.elluminate.com/support.
  • A headset with microphone or external speakers and microphone are strongly recommended to enhance your Webinar experience.  If you do not have access to a microphone you will be able to communicate with others via text messaging.

    PLEASE NOTE:  Port 80 and Port 2187 must be open on your end to access the Elluminate Server.

* DAY OF THE WEBINAR:

  • Please go to http://vclass.cciu.org and click on the NAME OF MEETING link under the Meeting Name Column. (You may join the room 30 minutes prior to the start time).
  • Connect your speakers, microphone and/or headset before joining the Webinar.
  • Go to:  http://vclass.cciu.org and locate the 'E-rate FY 2008: Updates and Refreshers' course.
  • Use your First and Last Name as your Login Name and click "Log In" (there is no password for this session).
  • You will automatically be taken to the Elluminate Session where the presentation will be held.
