Dear PA E-rate School and Library Contacts:
Message Posted September 2, 2008

The FCC released a formal Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM) requesting comments from the E-rate community on a broad range of services and whether they should be eligible or not and what the impact of such eligibility would have on the fund.  The Pennsylvania Department of Education intends to submit comments to the FCC, but first we'd like your input.  Will you please take 3 minutes to complete our informal survey?  This is your chance to provide input, not only on these specific issues, but also on any other service or product that you believe should be eligible for E-rate funding.

Please complete survey by Friday, September 5 at:  http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=039c7gTr6QLulvkrknP_2fAQ_3d_3d.

When providing your responses, please keep in mind that the more services that are deemed E-rate eligible, the greater demand on the E-rate Fund, which means less funding available for Priority 2 services and equipment for applicants with discounts below 90%.  Also, when recommending services or equipment that should be eligible, keep in mind that the purpose of the fund is to provide affordable telecommunications and internet access to schools and libraries.

Thanks for your help and we look forward to your responses!

-- Julie
