E-rate Audit Webinar Scheduled for Friday, May 8
Message Posted April 23, 2009

The Federal Communications Commission's Office of Inspector General (FCC-OIG) continues to conduct full-blown E-rate "attestation audits,' with 19 PA applicants already having been audited, with more to come in the weeks and months ahead.  Auditees are randomly selected with applicants receiving more funding standing a greater chance at being selected, but we also continue to see audits of small applicants as well.

Because these audits are so broad and applicants are expected to produce volumes of data, evidence and information, we want to make certain that everyone is prepared for an audit.  Therefore, we have scheduled another E-rate audit workshop on Friday, May 8 from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. via Elluminate.  This session will cover what to expect during an audit, what documentation you will need to produce, what steps you need to take now to ensure you are complying with program rules, and how to deal with a negative audit finding.  The workshop will be presented by Julie Tritt Schell, PA E-rate Coordinator; Kevin Watkins, Director of Technology & Auxiliary Services for Intermediate Unit 6; and Geoff Craven, Telecommunications & Technical Support Manager for Intermediate Unit 16.  Both IU 6 and IU 16 recently have undergone E-rate FCC OIG audits.

I encourage everyone who has not previously participated in one of the E-rate audit workshops to spend 90 minutes to attend this online session.  The E-rate audit workshop is free and no pre-registration is required.  However, space is limited, so we are limiting enrollees to Pennsylvania school and library staff only.  Please join the session early on May 8 to guarantee your seat.  Details for joining on the day of the workshop are below.

Please note that this session is being presented as part of the CoSN/PAECT CTO Clinic and if you are interested in attending the Clinic in person, please visit http://www.cosn.org/Default.aspx?TabId=4321.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
