FCC Sends Survey To Some E-rate Applicants
Message Posted February 25, 2010

This week some of you will receive a survey from Research@hpolsurveys.com, with the subject line: Federal Communications Commission (FCC) E-rate Program Survey. This is a valid, important survey that has been commissioned by the FCC to determine the current state of broadband access and usage in schools and libraries and to determine future needs. The survey is part of the FCC's efforts to create the National Broadband Plan which is expected to be released on March 16 and include proposed changes to the E-rate program. I encourage you to participate.

The voluntary survey is being sent via e-mail to randomly-selected applicants and it should take approximately 18 minutes to complete. The survey contains a unique URL for each respondent, so please do not share your survey with others as your URL can only be used to submit one survey and the survey must be completed by the school or library assigned to that URL.

If you begin the survey and don't know answers to all the questions, you may exit and return to the survey after you've had a chance to consult with others within your school or library. Your survey responses will responses will not be released beyond the study team and your name and your school's or library's information will not appear in any written reports. Additionally, your name and your school's or library's information will not be associated with any response or comment you choose to make about the program. The survey data and findings will be reported in aggregate form only.

Harris Interactive, Inc. is the outside contractor conducting the survey on behalf of the FCC.
