Update: Today is Final Day to Request BEAR Extensions for FY 2015 C2 FRNs

Update:

Apparently USAC is erroneously denying Invoice Deadline Extension Requests (IDERs) submitted today (their system’s deadline date is still set to 1/28/2017 which was the original deadline).  I just spoke with USAC and they will be issuing retroactive IDER approvals in the next few days for all IDERs that are submitted by midnight tonight.  So please don’t panic if you submit your extension request today and it is immediately rejected by the system for being submitted late.

Ugh.  I feel like there should be a Dilbert cartoon. : )

Today is the deadline to invoice USAC for FY 2015 for Internal Connections FRNs.  Technically the last date to invoice was January 28, 2017 (which is 120 days from the last date to receive service – September 30, 2016) but because the 28^th fell on a Saturday, the deadline is now January 30, 2017.   Attached is a list of entities that were funded for Internal Connections in FY 2015 but who have not received any disbursements from USAC as of today.

If your name is on this list, and you purchased the equipment/services, you should file the BEAR Invoice Deadline Extension Request (IDER) by midnight tonight – no exceptions.   USAC will then grant a single 120-day extension to submit the BEAR (they are not permitted to grant a second extension).

HOW TO REQUEST AN EXTENSION:  If you need to request an extension, there are two ways to do so – one if you have a PIN and one if you do not.  The attached document explains both methods.  The quickest and easiest way is if you have a PIN because the system grants immediate approvals.

If your name is on the list and you did not purchase the equipment/services in the FRN, it is very important that you submit a Form 500 to return the “commitment” to USAC so you can use it in future years.  The Form 500 must be submitted in EPC and there are very unique and specific instructions on how to do this for FY 2015 FRNs.  Those instructions are available at:  http://usac.org/sl/tools/news-briefs/preview.aspx?id=744.
