E-rate Workshops at PETE&C Next Week

February 9, 2018

~ Fiber Discussion Added to Second Session ~

If you’re attending the PETE & C Technology Conference in Hershey next week, please plan to join me for one or both of these E-rate workshops!  E-rate buttons and training binders will be available!  Details for both sessions are below.

Note:  When the “Future of E-rate” session was submitted, there was a strong indication that the new FCC Chairman would be releasing a Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM) to further modify the E-rate program.  Because this has not happened, the discussion of E-rate’s “future” will be expanded to include an overview of the E-rate requirements/eligibility of Leased Dark Fiber and Self-Provisioned Fiber.

E-rate: Leave No Category 2 Funding Behind!

Date:  Tuesday, February 13, 2018

Time:  2:15 – 3:15 PM

Room:  Empire C

Summary:  E-rate Category 2 funding provides discounts on network equip. and wiring, up to a per-pupil cap. Is your school maximizing its C2 budget? Come learn how to calculate your school’s C2 budget and determine how much is remaining, what’s eligible, options/requirements for competitive bidding, and the easiest way to file a C2 Form 471!

The Future of E-rate & E-rate Requirements for New Fiber Builds

Date:  Tuesday, February 13, 2018

Time: 3:30 – 4:30 PM

Room: Empire C

Summary:  Although the E-rate program was completely modernized in 2015, the new FCC is expected to make changes of their own to the program. Learn what proposals are being discussed in DC, what impact it could have on your school, and how you can maximize your current funding before any changes are made.  Also, this workshop has been expanded to include an overview of the E-rate requirements/eligibility of Leased Dark Fiber and Self-Provisioned Fiber – two network types that are growing in popularity but come with high rate of E-rate denials due to their intensive, detailed procurement and PIA processing rules.

Hope to see you there!
