Time is Running Out – File Your 471s!!

April 7, 2015

The official deadline for the FY 2015 Form 471 is Thursday, April 16, but I am asking you to PLEASE try to submit your applications by this Friday.  Here are the reasons why:

1)  The Form 471 application is more difficult than in previous years and so it will be very difficult for you to wait and complete the application quickly at the last minute.

2)  All Form 471s must be filed online this year, so there is going to be more traffic on the system than normal, which could likely mean it will CRAWL (or freeze/crash) next week and take ten times as long for you to complete the application.

3)  There are expected to be 50% more applications submitted this year because of Category 2 applications, which also will create more traffic on the system than normal, which could lead to system issues next week.

4)  It will be much easier to reach me and/or the USAC Client Services Bureau (CSB) this week if you need assistance.

Even if you can’t submit your application until next week due to late board approvals or late Allowable Contract Dates (for Form 470’s filed very late in the window), please begin your application and complete the Discount Calculation Section, Connectivity Section, and as much of the Funding Request Section as possible, in advance so that you have very little to complete next week.

If you have any questions, please e-mail me at jtschell@comcast.net!
