Congratulations!

May 27, 2016

First, I want to say congratulations to the 988 PA applicants that submitted their Form 471s by last night’s deadline! I AM SO PROUD OF YOU. Truly. FY 2015 was very challenging with the new E-rate rules/eligibility/discounts, but FY 2016 year required even more learning, and a whole new level of patience with the new EPC Portal, interconnected entity relationships, contract module, and new Form 471. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sticking with the program and being willing to adapt to these changes! I am hoping that the worst is behind us and after some EPC system and form tweaks, next year will go more smoothly.

Second, I’ll send out a more detailed analysis later, but based on the data submitted by the deadline, here are the final stats (not including consortia and library 471s that are yet to come):

PA Applicants: 988
C1 471s: 1346, requesting $37,178,143
C2 471s: 520, requesting $ 30,079,192
Total 471s: 1866, requesting $67,257,335

Third, I would like to request a favor. A nationwide E-rate survey is being conducted by Funds for Learning, asking schools and libraries to contribute their opinions and experiences with the E-rate application process and I’m asking you to take 3 minutes and complete the survey. You can do it anonymously, if you choose. At the close of the survey, the results will be tabulated into a comprehensive report which is then shared with the FCC, USAC and the general public. The survey is available at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2016Applicantsurvey. I hope you will take a few minutes and complete it in the next few days.

Thank you!

I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend. Congratulations, again. PA applicants rock!
