For Category 2 Applicants – A Favor

As most of you know, prior to Funding Year 2015, E-rate funding was traditionally either not been available for internal connections requests or was only awarded to the highest discount applicants.  In July 2014, the FCC approved the E-rate Modernization Order which guaranteed that all schools and libraries would be eligible to receive internal connections equipment funding over the next five years.  According to my records, about 423 PA applicants applied for Category 2 funding this year (and more than 150 of you already have been funded), requesting more than $38 million!  I would like to ask each of you for a favor — please help me say thank you to the FCC.

As you unpack E-rate funded equipment, as you install cabling, as you connect wireless devices to your new WAPs, as you put the finishing touches on your data center racks, please take a few pictures of your project and e-mail them to me.  If you can hold up a sign that says something like, “Thanks, FCC” or “E-rate Did This!” or anything that expresses your appreciation, that would be wonderful!

My intent is to compile the pictures in a photobook and present it to FCC Chairman Wheeler and key FCC staff to show our appreciation for making these projects possible in Pennsylvania’s schools and libraries.  I hope you will join me in this little project.  It should only take less than 3 minutes of your time, but will be so much appreciated by so many (including me)!
